Child custody is one of the most emotionally charged issues in divorce, and it can continue to be a concern for parents long after their divorce is finalized. Whether you are contemplating divorce or want assistance with a post-divorce modification of a custody order, Robert Reid McInvale, Attorney at Law is prepared to help. For more than 30 years, our law firm has focused exclusively on family law issues, and child custody occupies a special place in our practice.
In many ways, Fort Bend County is an idyllic area of Texas and the country. With a median family income of more than $100,000 a year, Fort Bend is the wealthiest county in Texas. The county has been growing at a rapid pace for decades and now has an estimated 740,000 residents. Yet parents still face challenges raising their children, and divorced parents have the added pressure of managing child custody disputes. But, throughout Fort Bend County, from Fulshear to Kendleton to Arcola, parents can rely on Reid McInvale. Winner of the Platinum Client Champion award for 2017, Reid is rated “Superb” by Avvo in Child Custody and is AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell® for his high ethical standards and professional ability.
In Texas, child custody is known formally as conservatorship. What people colloquially call legal custody is a managing conservatorship. Therefore, if you have the authority to make decisions for your child’s health and welfare, you are a managing conservator. The responsibility for housing your child is determined under a standard possession order. Parental rights and responsibilities are defined by the following types of arrangements:
The court’s primary concern in issuing your possession order is the best interests of your child. As your advocate, we assert your parental rights and fight for a custody agreement or court order that provides every opportunity to maintain a loving relationship with your child.
In divorce actions, we work to negotiate a parenting plan as part of a comprehensive marital settlement agreement. We continue to be available to clients for any custody conflicts that arise after the divorce is final. Issues we frequently manage include:
We serve all the cities in Fort Bend County, including Arcola, Beasley, Fulshear, Kendleton, Meadows Place, Needville, Orchard, Richmond, Rosenberg, Simonton, Sugar Land, and Weston Lakes.
